Making Ends Meet

The Garcias were a stable family when both Mom and Dad lost their jobs suddenly. With their youngest son, Max, enrolled in BCFS Education Services' Head Start, the program's whole-family approach to early childhood education helped the Garcias regain their path toward self-sufficiency for the family and school readiness for Max.

A Bright & Hopeful Future

One of nine children, Savannah lived an unstable home life and grew up familiar with Child Protective Services. As a teen, she entered the foster care system. When a friend told her about BCFS Health and Human Services-Kerrville, Savannah found a helping hand and access to knowledge and information that would help her as a young adult.

Award-Winning Resiliency

Starla Huff and Nickolas Wilkerson are two youth from the foster care system who have faced more than their fair share of tragedy and injustice. By holding onto their faith, working hard, and a little help from supportive foster families and BCFS Health and Human Services-Tyler, today Starla and Nick both stand tall – ready for whatever tomorrow may bring.

Firefighters, Police and First Responders Visit BCFS Education Services

BCFS Education Services Head Start programs celebrated Fire Prevention Week earlier this month with visits from area fire departments and first responders. Firefighters talked to Head Start students and staff about the importance of fire safety, gave firetruck tours, demonstrated how to put on a fireman’s suit, and described each piece of equipment they use while responding to a fire.
